Windies Under-19 player Joshua Persaud is mourning the loss of his mother, who died in a car accident in the United States.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) is expressing condolences to the player, who has been part of the team taking part in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand but has been allowed to head back to Guyana immediately.

Persaud left New Zealand last night along with the injured Raymond Perez.

While no request has been made for Persaud’s replacement, Brad Barnes will depart the Caribbean today as the replacement for Perez.

“CWI sends its prayers and thoughts to the Persaud family and with Joshua’s teammates in New Zealand during this time,” read a release from Cricket West Indies.
