FRISCO, Texas (Thursday, Dec. 15) – FC Dallas has re-signed defender Atiba Harris to a new contract.

Harris, 31, is a veteran of 246 appearances, has scored 29 goals and has 26 assists. The St. Kitts and Nevis native has played 96 MLS matches in an FC Dallas uniform, scoring nine times and adding 11 assists in two separate stints.

Harris’ first term with FCD coincided with Dallas’ rapid rise to an MLS Cup appearance in 2010, after the club missed out on the postseason in 2008 and 2009. His second tenure with Dallas has been more impressive, helping the club to the two best regular seasons in franchise history (2015-16), the 2016 Supporters’ Shield, a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title and a berth in the Knockout Round of CONCACAF Champions’ League.

Harris willed FC Dallas to its berth in the Champions’ League Quarterfinal by scoring the only goal in Dallas’ 1-1 draw in Nicaragua against Real Estelí on Aug. 24. He also netted the game-winning goal in a 5-2 win against Suchitepéquez on Oct. 20.

Dallas opens its 2017 season with a Champions’ League match at Toyota Stadium against Panamanian side Árabe Unido on Thursday, Feb. 23.
