The Cabinet of Grenada has given its approval for a committee that will look into honouring Hollice “Mr Killer” Mapp and the 4 other Grenadian artistes who participated in the 2019 International Power Soca Monarch and Groovy competition held in Trinidad last week Friday.

The revelation was made during Tuesday’s briefing by Minister of Trade, Hon. Oliver Joseph.

Having 5 entertainers that participated in this year’s Soca Monarch Competition boosted the brand, Grenada. The competition which is a premiere event for Trinidad and Tobago carnival celebrations, saw Mr. Killer not only winning the competition with his performance of “Run Wid It” but dominating the internet, and the airwaves.

Hector known in Soca circles as “Mr Legz” placed second runner up and in the Groovy competition Jevaughn “Vaughn” John placed second runner up.

Unfortunately, the other competing artistes, Mandella Linkz McDonald who competed in the Groovy and the soca duo of Dingaan Henry and Nyelon Williams who are known as Lil Natty and Thunda – Power Soca participants, weren’t able to place.

According to a news article from Now Grenada, Minister Joseph is quoted as saying:

They all did us very proud and the government has decided that we will have to plan some sort of ceremonial activity to honour all of them.

A welcome reception is planned for the Soca artistes on Saturday.
