Issac intensifying over the Eastern Tropical Atlantic

Tropical Depression Nine this afternoon churned into Tropical Storm which was located Isaac about 1,640 miles or 2,640 kilometres east of the Windward Islands.

According to NHC’s latest update the storm is located near latitude 14.4 north, longitude 37.5 West.

Issac is moving toward the west near 8 mph (13 km/h. A westward motion with an increase in forward speed is expected during the next few days.

The advisory stated, “Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts.”

The National Hurricane Center is forecasting, additional strengthening over the next few days.

Isaac is expected to become a Hurricane by Monday and according to the Antigua Met Services, almost all the models have TS_Isaac passing through the EasternCaribbean as a hurricane – perhaps between Guadeloupe and St. Vincent.
