Yesterday we had an unfortunate incident at The Charlestown Secondary School which involved a male teacher and two male students. The incident is one that requires a thorough investigation before we can give conclusive information to the general public.

The relevant authorities and individuals, including the parents of the students have been informed of the incident by the Principal of the school. We assure the general public that measures are already afoot to investigate and deal with the incident.

We want to assure all as well that the Ministry and Department of Education take every undesirable incident at our schools seriously and we will do all in our power to ensure the security and safety of our children and staff while at school.

The Ministry of Education and Department of Education condemns any act of undesirable behavior which involves students or teachers, especially on school premises.

The Ministry and Department of Education remains fully committed to creating a safe and conducive environment for learning and development of all our children and a safe working environment for our teachers and staff.
