SKN PULSE, Basseterre, Saturday 17, December 2016 – The St. Kitts National Basketball team has won the 2016 edition of the Leeward Islands Basketball Championship. Leading from the front, captain Nashorn Maynard left his print etched in the walls of the Rodney Mac Arthur Rey Auditorium for the 2016 Leeward Islands basketball tournament that was hosted in Anguilla from December 13th – 17th.

Earlier this evening St. Kitts engaged the British Virgin Islands in the 2016 Leeward Islands championship game. Having entered the finals undefeated, St. Kitts knew that they had to bring their A game and so they did.

An early first quarter lead of 7 points was enough of a cushion for them to build on to topple the BVI. They led by 14 at the half and added to the lead at the end of the third quarter.

Using a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter, St. Kitts sealed the Championship as the British Virgin Islands failed to go on a run of their own. The final scoreline, SKB 73 – BVI 57.
