POLICE INVESTIGATING BREAKING AT BASSETERRE POST OFFICE

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 22, 2017 (RSCNPF): Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department are investigating a Building Breaking and Larceny that occurred over the weekend (June 16-19) at the General Post Office in Basseterre.

 

Investigations revealed that the staff secured the premises on Friday (June 16) about 5.00pm and returned on Monday (June 19) about 7.00am to discover the building broken into.

 

A survey of the building identified that a number of spaces including the Parcel and Post storeroom were broken into. It was also noted that individual packages were opened and contents removed. Further checks discovered that the assailants also damaged the Post Office vaults, cash registers and other equipment.

 

The scene was processed by officers from the Forensic Services Department.

 

The investigation is ongoing.
