Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 5, 2018 – Police confirmed Saturday that Almond Browne, one of the drivers involved in a tragic vehicular accident Friday night died on the spot.

“Members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) found Browne’s lifeless body still inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Doctor,” a police statement said.

The accident on the Old Road Bay stretch involved motor jeep PA43 owned by Ellis Hazel, but was being driven by Chavez Hazel of Conyers Housing Project. Motor car P9656 owned by Melford Galloway was being driven by Almond Browne of Fig Tree.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions. PA43 was heading towards Basseterre and P9656 was travelling towards Old Road. When both vehicles got near the ditch/ghaut along Old Road Bay, they collided,” police said.

Hazel was transported to the JN France General Hospital by the EMS for medical attention.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
