St. Kitts and Nevis football team among contenders for CASJA Award

SKNP, Sunday 6 November, 2016 – 2016 has been a good year for the St. Kitts-Nevis National football team. With a climb in the FIFA Football Rankings, (ranked 74th) the SKN brand is well marketed. Team St. Kitts-Nevis are among contenders for the 3rd Annual Caribbean Association of Sports Journalists’ (CASJA) Men’s Team of the Year Award.

 

St. Kitts-Nevis, (Sugar Boys) along with five other teams were nominated for outstanding team performances. The nominees cover three sport disciplines namely, cricket, football and athletics. Teams include the Bahamas’ 4X400m Men Relay team, the Jamaican 4X100m, 4X400m Men Relay teams, the West Indies U19 Team, the West Indies Men T2o Team.

Topping the list of nominees are Usain Bolt and Elaine Thompson who have been nominated for Male and Female Sports Personalities of the Year Awards.

Rising star Alzarri Joseph, the Antiguan West Indies fast bowler has been nominated for the Male Rising Star and Junior Sportsman of the Year titles. Joseph’s former team=mate and former West Indies U19 captain, Shimron Hetmyer is also in the running for the Rising Star Award.

The third annual CASJA Award is scheduled to be announced on Friday (Nov. 18).
