Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 17, 2018 – St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport has re-opened after temporary closure to air traffic due to a damaged runway.

Passengers who checked in at Puerto Rico’s Munoz Marin International Airport on Seaborne Airlines bound for St. Kitts late Tuesday afternoon were informed the flight via the airport’s PA system was delayed.

According to a reliable source, the St. Maarten-based airline, WINAIR cancelled their flights.

A SCASPA statement issued late Tuesday afternoon said: “At about 5 pm today…while taking off Amerijet left the runway a little damaged. The SCASPA tower and SCASPA facilities crew immediately attended to the matter and the airport runway is currently being resurfaced to continue flights.

According to the tower base and the supervisory team currently at the site …the airport runaway would be operational by 8 pm this evening to continue its usual flight in and outbound of St. Kitts. Again the airport has not been closed down under any other circumstance.”
