San Juan, Puerto Rico, July 17, 2018 – St. Kitts’ Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport is temporarily closed to air traffic.

That’s according to an announcement by San Juan-based Seaborne Airline in Puerto Rico in an announcement made of the PA system.

Passengers booked for the flight to St. Kitts were informed of the temporary closure by the airline.

Meanwhile, the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) late Tuesday issued a statement stating the airport “has not been shut down.”

“At about 5pm today…while taking off Amerijet left the runway a little damaged. The SCASPA tower and SCASPA facilities crew immediately attended to the matter and the airport runway is currently being resurfaced to continue flights.

According to the tower base and the supervisory team currently at the site …the airport runaway would be operational by 8pm this evening to continue its usual flight in and outbound of St. Kitts.” the SCASPA statement said.

“Again the airport has not been closed down under any other circumstance,” said SCASPA.
