First Murder of 2019 Recorded – One of the two men shot and injured in the New Year’s Day (January 1, 2019) shooting incident on Nevis has succumbed to his injuries.

28-year-old Jelani Liburd of Craddock Road, was warded at the Intensive Care Unit at the Alexandra Hospital where he pass away earlier this afternoon, Tuesday, January 22.

Liburd and 22-year-old Keon Moore were attacked by unknown assailants while seated in a motor vehicle in the vicinity of Stoney Grove.

They both sustained gunshot injuries about their bodies after they were attacked by unknown assailants.

Police are currently making arrangements to have an autopsy performed on the body of Jelani Liburd to determine his exact cause of death.

This medium extends condolences to his immediate family, friends and the Craddock Road Community.
