Basseterre, St Kitts, March 22, 2019 – New information indicates that a portable charger started to smoke as it was being screened at St Kitts’ Robert L Bradshaw International Airport Friday morning.
“A carry-on luggage that was being screened started to smoke as it was going through the scanner. It was discovered that the smoke was coming from a portable charger or batteries in the bag,” a source said in an update.
The carry-on bag belonged to a tourist who was leaving the island.
An American Airlines morning flight to Miami was delayed as a result of the incident.
