V.C Bird International Re-Opens After Bomb Threat Hoax

Antigua’s V.C Bird International Airport has re-opened after a bomb threat hoax forced a complete shutdown of the facility early Friday evening.

According to reports, the threat was called in and was received by the control tower. Operations at Antigua’s lone international airport was halted and the police called in.

Minister Yearwood told ABS news that an overseas call was made to the switchboard indicating that there was a bomb at the Old Terminal building.

The bomb squad and other law enforcement operatives were called in to investigate, but nothing was found

All incoming flights, including British Airways from Tobago, en route to London were diverted. A British Airways aircraft was diverted to St. Kitts.

Normalcy has been restored. Investigations as to who made the call are still on-going.
