Last night at Sugar Mill, Warner Park, the Federation’s youngsters vied for the Junior and Primary Junior Calypso Monarch Titles. The Competition was held in conjunction with the National Carnival Teen Pageant.
Singing mostly social commentary, the Junior Calypsonians gave of their best. With almost equal representation from both Nevis and St. Kitts youths, Nevis junior Calypsonians took the majority of top positions, (see results below). Invincible and Sweet T, King and 1st runner-up from the Primary Junior last year were both crowned as winners for the Junior and Primary Junior divisions.
Moving on to the Junior division, Reigning Culturama Monarch and Three Peat Winner of the Primary Junior Calypso Show, King Invincible dominated the stage in the Junior Segment. Amassing 422 points, Invincible beat his closest rival by 46 points. King Akedo placed 1st runner up with 376 points. Invincible now has the distinction of winning four consecutive crowns in Sugar Mas Carnival.
Sweet T captured the Primary Junior Monarch comfortably with her song entitled ‘Train Up Your Child.’ Her closest competitor was Nevaeh who amassed 368 points. Her song was entitled ‘A Sister’s Plight.’
