St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN PULSE): The Criminal Investigation Deparment, (CID) on Nevis, is investigating reports that driver’s licences were sold illegally in both Nevis and St. Kitts.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that licences were sold to at least twenty persons (20) for $2000.00 XCD each. The total number that were sold is unknown.

Inspector Carl Caines who heads the Traffic Department on St. Kitts confirmed the investigation today, (Monday 29 May) while on Traffic Talk, (a WINN FM Show).

According to Inspectior Caines, “A message was sent and the Commissioner of Police and other officers received that message to say that basically persons are selling licences. That was the message that I got and we are of course investigating the matter. I don’t want to believe that, I want to believe it’s a hoax.”

Contrary to the Inspector’s belief, unconfirmed reports indicate that some of the illegal licence recipients have come forward to give information.

While on WINNFM, Inspector Caines also stated that the information currently being circulated in the public domain via whatsapp and social media was not issued by the Traffic Department.
