Quiet Nomination Day On Nevis

Candidates from the two political parties, (CCM and NRP) with their two constituents who participated in the nomination process.

With no pomp and show, the Nevis Reformation Party and the Concerned Citizens Movement candidates were successfully nominated yesterday, Wednesday 27 May to contest the upcoming June 05, general elections in St. Kitts and Nevis.


Candidates were nominated by two registered voters each to run on a Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) ticket and three on the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) ticket.


Contesting in Constituency No. 10 for CCM, Mr. Eric Evelyn was nominated at the David Freeman Centre of Excellence by Mrs. Deslyn Evelyn of Hanley’s Road and Mr. Berley R. Walwyn of Hard Times while his opponent Mr. Bjorn Hanley of the NRP was nominated by Mr. Myron C. Liburd of Rices Village and Ms. Shakiela Morton of Hanley’s Road. The Returning Officer was Mr. Rohan Claxton.


In St. James and St. Thomas’, constituency #11 – incumbent Mr. Patrice Nisbett, was nominated by two women, Ms. Idona Browne of Jessups Village and Ms. Derika Camella Helena Parry of Shaws Road. Stanley Williams of Newcastle and Ms. Neelia Maynard of Jessups Village nominated Alexis Jeffers of CCM. They were nominated at the Cotton Ground Community Centre and the process was conductes by Returning Officer, Mrs. Ermileta Elliott.


Incumbent Mr. Mark Brantley of the CCM party and Mr. Kelvin Daly of the NRP were nominated at the Bath Community Centre. Brantley was nominated by Mr. Dennis Browne of Brown Hill and Ms. Lorna Hunkins of Marion Heights while Kelvin Daly was nominated by Ms. Saneldo Willett of Hamilton Estate and Mr. Devonne Cornelius of Lower Stoney Grove. The Returning Officer at the Bath Community Centre was Mr. Kevin Barrett.


The Concerned Citizens Movement party will be looking to secure all three seats and have expressed confidence they will. Their opponents NRP on the other hand, are confident they will secure victory at the Polls by winning atleast 2 of the three seats. Both parties have pledged to provide proper representation for the people of Nevis in the National Assembly in St. Kitts.
