Reggae Sumfest 2017 Celebrates 25th Anniversary Weeklong Takeover Of Montego Bay

2017 Reggae Sumfest, presented by Red Stripe and produced by DownSound Entertainment, in Montego Bay on July 16-22 is going all-out in celebrating this 25th Anniversary with a week-long takeover of Montego Bay. With a line-up featuring many of Reggae and Dancehall’s biggest stars, it’s no wonder that Reggae-lovers from around the world are making the Sumfest Week their summer vacation. Reggae Sumfest represents the most authentic Jamaican music experience in the world.

Besides over-the-top themed pre-parties all week long, Sunday through Thursday:Beach Party; Yacht Cruise; All-White Dance Party; Retro 90’s Dancehall Block Party; and the Heavyweight Sound Clash; the Main Events on Friday & Saturday, July 21 and 22 present the greatest and most beloved Jamaican Dancehall and Reggae stars in the world!

 

It’s no wonder that the Jamaica Observer newspaper recently ran a story titled, “Record crowds expected for Reggae Sumfest’s 25th anniversary show.” The article summed up the excitement by reporting that ticket sales so far this year indicate record crowds coming to the annual event scheduled for Montego Bay.

 

After five days of festive Reggae celebration with the pre-event parties, Catherine Hall Festival Grounds are transformed into the biggest Reggae festival of the year! The Catherine Hall Event Center, located on the Bay, hosts the all-night-long line-ups thatboast some of the biggest international Reggae and Dancehall stars in the world. The Main Event Night 1 on Friday, July 21 night focuses on Dancehall while the Main Event Night 2 on Saturday July 22 has a Reggae Focus. The events will be globally live streamed in both high-quality, broadcast-style High Definition Livestreams and cutting edge 360° Surround Video Livestreams for viewing on all devices worldwide.  

 

Global Reggae and Dancehall fans are rejoicing for the chance to see (live or on livestream) the artists scheduled for the Main Events at Catherine Hall on Friday andSaturday. These performers are famous around the globe!

Alkaline ~ the first Dancehall deejay to have a #1 album on the chart for five years

 

Mavado ~ recently performed for 50,000 in Gambia, Africa.

 

Bounty Killer ~ signature debut track “Roots, Reality, and Culture” has been playing in Reggae fans’ homes since 1994.

 

Tory Lanez ~ Describes his own personal style as Swavey.

 

Aidonia ~ Kingston DJ with a rapid, festive flow inspired by ’80s and ’90s Dancehall.

 

Female artist Spice is sure to bring some sexy, high-energy.

 

Tommy Lee Sparta strongly influenced by different genres: Reggae, Dancehall,

Hip Hop, Pop and rock.

 

Masicka ~ rising star deejay is also referred to as “Sicka Dan Dem.”

Grammy Award winning artist Sean Paul has been consistently releasing hits for the past two decades.

 

The tracks of high-energy star Sizzla Kalonji are played daily in fan’s homes, and his philanthropy is abundant with his NGO “Sizzla Youth Foundation.”

 

Grammy-Award winning Beenie Man’s music is compelling, and all Reggae fans are familiar with his signature “Girls Dem Sugar.”

 

Jah Cure’s album The Cure topped Billboard Reggae Albums chart in its first week and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2016.

 

The beloved Queen Ifrica represents the empresses of Reggae to the fullest.

 

Smooth Singer Christopher Martin is popular worldwide.

 

Richie Stephens started out as a singer for Grammy Award-winning

 

R&B group Soul II Soul and received the Jamaican Governor-General’s Achievement Award for contributing to civic, social and recreational projects in and around the parish of Westmoreland.
